• Refine your searches by separating keywords with and, or, or not.
• Multiple words are treated as exact phrases unless they are separated by and, or, or not.
• Use quotation marks to search for phrases containing the words and, or, or not (e.g., "Elementary and Secondary Education Act"), or to search for combinations of phrases (e.g., "new economy" and "workforce development").
• Use an asterisk (*) to search for variations on root words (e.g., use enviro* to find "environment" and "environmental," use Jo* to find "Joe" and "Joseph," etc.).
• When searching for names (e.g., Joseph Lieberman), it's often best to use and between the first and last name (e.g., Jo* and Lieberman). This is particularly true if the person sometimes uses a middle initial.
• Searches are not case sensitive unless you mix upper- and lower-case letters (e.g., "New Economy").
• Do not use periods. They will cause searches to turn up no results.
• To search Progressive Policy Institute content only, conduct a search from a PPIonline.org page. Similarly, to search all DLC.org content, submit a search query from a DLC.org page.
