The Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) is scheduled to have a strong presence at the 2000 Democratic National Convention from August 14th thru August 18th, with a series of events taking place in the greater Los Angeles area which will showcase New Democrat leaders from around the country and address specific New Democrat policy issues.

Featured events will include:

  • "New Democrats: Education in America" -- A forum at the headquarters of Creative Artists Agency (CAA) with various Governors, Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, and members of the entertainment industry.
  • "New Democrats: Making the New Economy Grow" -- A forum with the Honorable Larry Summers and Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle, Senator John Kerry, other New Democrat elected leaders, and members of the high-tech community at the Museum of Television and Radio.
  • "The DLC's Constellation of New Democrat Stars" -- An opportunity to meet a future President, Senator, Governor, or other star in the New Democrat's growing 'constellation,' as the DLC names the 100 top rising stars of the New Democrat movement from the state and local level.

PARTICIPANTS: The top 100 New Democrat state and local officials from across the United States -- Chances are, you're already quite familiar with the New Democrat movers and shakers on the national stage: the senators, congressmen, governors, and of course, the President and Vice President of the United States. As proud as we are of those figures' accomplishments, theirs is only part of the New Democrat success story. Across the nation, in statehouses and state government offices, in city halls and council chambers, New Democrats are making a difference in the lives of their fellow Americans.
