WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Progressive Policy Institute and the Hudson Institute will host a forum and luncheon, entitled "Taking National Service to Scale," featuring Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN), John McCain (R-AZ), Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Leslie Lenkowsky, America's Promise CEO former Senator Harris Wofford, and others. The conference will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at the National Guard Association of the United States.
The conference will examine what role the government might play in making service to one's country and community a rite of passage in America. At a time when proposals for expanding national service have been brought forth by members of Congress and President Bush, this forum will offer an opportunity to discuss the challenges of increasing civil and military opportunities for service in greater detail. The aim of the conference is to provide a better understanding of the different opportunities that exist for taking national service to scale and the challenges inherent in building the programs that would make this rite of passage a reality.
As space is limited, please RSVP to John Bray at (202) 547-0001.
