100 to Watch: Patrice M. Arnet State Senator, Utah
Background: State legislator; division chief in state attorney generals office; lawyer.
Why I got into public service: While serving as associate general counsel to the Utah legislature, I learned that one person can truly make a difference in shaping good public policy. That is what I am trying to do on a variety of issues.
Guiding Value: Integrity. Leadership depends on people doing what is right and not making decisions based on what is popular in the press or the polls.
#1 Rule of Politics: No one has a monopoly on good ideas. To truly understand an issue, it is critical to listen carefully to all perspectives and seek out differing views.
First Job: Gift wrapper and parking lot attendant for my familys retail business.
