100 to Watch: Dan B. Frankel State Representative, PA
Background: Insurance executive.
Top Issue: Solving the city of Pittsburghs fiscal challenges for the long-term by restructuring its expenses and revenue streams to reflect the city it has become, not a city that existed 50 years ago.
Guiding Value: Balance: To be an effective legislator, one must strike a balance between representing the interests of your constituents and taking a larger view of issues and leading his/her constituents in a direction that may not have their immediate support. Being able to balance the tension between representation and leadership is the key to successful politics and good public policy decision making.
#1 Rule of Politics: Stay in touch with constituents. It is important to be out in the community to get a true sense of what is on people's minds.
First Job: Computer processing assistant.
