Why I got into public service:

Top Issue: Quality of life issues, the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists, and service learning have been my top priorities.

Guiding Value: Responsibility. As an elected official, the public entrusts in me the greatest honor and responsibility to be their public servant. I must be accountable and responsible to my community, family, and to myself, and must take a stand on issues, cast my vote, and then live with the consequences of that vote.

#1 Rule of Politics: Be responsive. Keep an open mind and open door. Be available to my constituents, meet with them, respond to their letters, phone calls, needs, and be willing to listen to their opinions on issues.

First Job: Building bicycles in a toy department.
