WASHINGTON D.C. -- On Wednesday, June 29 former President Bill Clinton will present Ted Turner with the Democratic Leadership Council's (DLC) Clinton Center Award for Leadership and National Service. The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be held in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. President Clinton and Ted Turner will engage in an in-depth discussion of energy and environmental issues moderated by former Senator Timothy E. Wirth, and an award presentation will follow.
Ted Turner is being honored for his exceptional work as an environmentalist and philanthropist through the Turner Foundation, the United Nations Foundation, the Nuclear Threat Initiative, and other organizations. His vast investments of time, energy and financial resources have significantly helped preserve and improve the quality of the earth's natural environment. The DLC's Clinton Center Award for Leadership and National Service was initiated in 2002 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated through their actions a commitment to the New Democrat ethics of promoting mutual responsibility and enriching civic life.
